Q&A

  • How long does it take to remove all the excess hair?  Consistency is key - At your consultation, your electrologist will develop and suggest a plan for an efficient result for you.  Electrolysis takes time - as each hair is treated individually, and hair is in different stages of growth and grows at different rates in different areas.  Electrolysis is most effective when hair is treated in its growth stage - so regular visits produce the best results.

  • I have blond hair that laser won't remove - will electrolysis work?  Yes! it works on all hair colors and skin tones.

  • I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) - will electrolysis help with the extra hair I have? Electrolysis will certainly help with the reduction of your unwanted hair.

  • Do I need to schedule a consultation?  Yes - if this is your first time visiting Calmia. The consultation not only goes over what electrolysis is, but we come up with a plan on helping you tackle your unwanted hair as well as have a trial treatment session at the end.

  • I've been plucking my hair and want to start electrolysis - what should I do?  Please stop plucking your hair prior to the consultation.  If needed, trim hairs - leaving approximately 2mm or 1/16" of hair growth (2-4 days) for your appointment.
